At its meeting in České Budějovice on 12 August 2026, the Presidium of the International Arbitration Court in Prague at the Czech-Moravian Commodity Exchange Kladno adopted the Principles on the Use of AI Systems (AI Code). The Code takes effect on 1 October 2026.
The Code governs the use of AI systems by the Arbitration Court, its bodies, arbitrators and others involved in conducting or administering arbitration proceedings. It does not apply to the parties or their legal representatives. AI systems may support tasks such as organising materials, searching for information, proofreading and anonymising documents. They must not replace independent human judgement or reach factual or legal conclusions without professional assessment by the responsible person.
The Code requires AI outputs to be checked before use and confidential information to be protected. For non-public information, it calls for appropriate safeguards, including a zero-data-retention regime applied by the system provider.
